Giulio Cesare video footage

This is the latest! Here are some clips of me playing "Sesto" in Université de Montréal's recent production of Giulio Cesare.

Svegliatevi nel core:

Awaken in my heart
The wrath of an offended soul
So I may wreak upon a traitor
My bitter vengeance!

The ghost of my father
Hastens to my defense
Saying, "From you, my son
Ferocity is expected".

L'angue Offeso:

The offended serpent will not rest
Until it has spent its venom
In the blood of its offender.
Thus my soul does not dare
To lay claim to greatness and pride
Until the villain's heart has been torn from his breast.

L'aura che spira:

Tyrannical and cruel,
He does not deserve to breathe
The wafting breezes.
His merciless heart
Arouses me to rage,
And only his death can appease me.

Opera NUOVA summer 2011

I am pleased to announce that I will be participating in the 2011 Opera NUOVA program for aspiring opera singers in Edmonton. I will be playing "Jezibaba" (the witch) in the beautiful Czech opera Rusalka by Dvorak. This will be my first full role in Czech - I'm very excited!

The Festival will run from May 20, 2011 to June 26, 2011. Performances include masterclasses, aria and artsong concerts, a fully produced musical entitled Light in the Piazza and of course, mainstage operas: Le Nozze di Figaro and Rusalka.

Opera Nuova is a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to the advanced training of operatic vocalists, pianists and chamber musicians from across the country. They have established a reputation as one of this country’s premier training organizations. The Vocal Arts Festival is Canada’s only summer Opera Festival consisting of over 24 performances over six weeks.

I will be posting performance dates as soon as they are published. In the meantime, check out Opera NUOVA's website for more details on the program.

le OUM fait son ciméma

Sorry...this is coming a bit late. The concert has already passed, but I thought I'd post this just for fun.
FYI, I sang a small solo in the "Suite Richard Grégoire". It was a vocalise with a tribal/pop feel, which appeared in the Québecois film "Being at Home with Claude", for which Richard Grégoire wrote the score.
